This months Sephora box wasn’t my favorite. I got a lot of repeat products and I thought it was weird that they used the two Bite Beauty products that are in the VIB beauty gift again in this box. Also, is anyone else disappointed that they use those plastic pouches now instead of the cute fabric bags?
I’m a big fan of beauty supplements (read all about my favorites here) so I was very excited to see this product from Four Sigmatic in my box. This is a dairy free golden latte made with shiitake mushroom and turmeric. I love tumeric and am familiar with the benefits but I hadn’t heard too much about the benefits of shiitake mushroom. Apparently when paired with the antioxidant properties of turmeric, this mushroom blend is supposed to make your skin glow. The taste wasn’t my favorite but it certainly wasn’t the worst tasting supplement I’ve ever tried. It remains to be seen if this actually produces results, but I don’t think I like the taste enough to purchase it and find out. *Update: I have very severe asthma and after I drank less than 1/4 of the cup I noticed I began wheezing a bit more than is normal. I’m not sure if this an allergic reaction or what but because of this I definitely don’t feel comfortable trying it again.*
This is definitely the best product in the entire box. This is a potent serum with 15% THD formulated to fight dullness, dark spots and discolorations. I really like this product and definitely saw results. The price isn’t necessarily high for this type of thing, but a bit too high for me to justify integrating it into my routine.
I recently wrote about both the Bite Beauty lip balm and scrub here. To me these products are just average and not impressive in comparison to others out there. I’ve also written about the lip crayon before, you can read all about that here. The lip crayon is definitely the best of the three products but I wish Sephora didn’t repeat the same products as the birthday bonus.
I’ve written about this mask before (read about it here) and I’m just not a fan. I think the gel style products aren’t a good fit for me. I was surprised to see this as an Allure Best of Beauty winner.
I watched a tutorial last year about cleaning your Beauty Blender and the blogger recommended just using a regular bar of soap and although it worked very effectively at cleaning the beauty blender, the soap stripped the color off of that area of the sponge. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of. This was my first chance to get to try the actual solid cleanser from the brand. This worked as effectively as the soap but without the stripping effect. Although this sample just contained the bar and not the traveling case, I think the price for the full sized bar and case is kind of crazy at $45. I’m sure it will definitely help to prolong the life of the sponge, but I do think it is really a high price for what is effectively a bar of soap. I think I will continue to use regular soap.
